Ivan Baldwin je globálním sponzorem jaderné vertikály ACS Group / Hochtief a je zodpovědný za vedení globální strategie napříč všemi jadernými segmenty na všech kontinentech. Ivan nastoupil do společnosti v květnu 2025 ze společnosti Bechtel a zastával také vedoucí pozice v britské Národní jaderné laboratoři a v obranné společnosti BAE Systems. Ivan je členem britské Rady pro jaderný průmysl a bývalým prezidentem organizace Women in Nuclear UK.

You have the responsibility for HOCHTIEF activities in nuclear sector. Does it concerns not only focus on the business cooperation with Rolls-Royce SMR, or also your interest on projects of “big” nuclear units?

In Hochtief, I am responsible for leading our strategic and business development activities as we are growing once more in the nuclear sector, leveraging our nuclear design, mega-project delivery, local solutions, and off-site modular manufacturing capabilities.
Our sector focus includes all aspects of nuclear – LSR, SMR, AMR, Fusion, Fuel, Waste Management, and Decommissioning.

And now something more general – related with your worldwide experience in nuclear sector. The “golden era” (1970 – 2000) of nuclear power is over. Do you expect that now is a right time to repeat it? And are we capable to do it?

I absolutely believe that the world is once again looking toward nuclear to provide solutions for energy security and for reliable power. Today, for many countries, ‘always on nuclear’ can pair well with the intermittent sources of renewable power being installed. Also the massive rollout of advanced technologies, such as AI, require the combination of reliability, low emissions, and huge energy output that only nuclear energy can provide. Now is the moment.
When required in the past, the nuclear industry has proven itself to be capable of delivering at scale. I am highly confident that we will do this again.
